United States Permanent Resident Card (Green card) – an identity card or so-called identification card confirming the presence of a residence permit for a non-citizen of the United States and providing employment eligibility. The permanent resident certificate is evidence that the holder is a legal immigrant with the same constitutional rights as all other citizens.
Green card holders are statutorily eligible for U.S. citizenship if they can demonstrate by a preponderance of the evidence that, among other things, they have resided continuously in the United States for at least five years. You may travel freely outside the United States for up to one year as a visitor or invite certain family members to immigrate to the United States as lawful permanent residents by sending an invitation to immigration. These family members include the spouse, unmarried children under 21 years of age, and unattached children of any age.
