Non-EU citizens who reside in Finland are issued a residence authorization. If you wish to remain in Finland for more than three months, you must obtain a residence permit. If you intend to work, a permanent residence certificate may be required. In order to engage in an independent enterprise or profession in Finland, one must possess a residence permit for self-employed individuals. Non-EU/EEA students studying in Finland require a student residence authorization (student visa).

Type of permit or justification for issuing the permit:

A = continuous residence permit
B = temporary residence permit
P = permanent residence permit
P-EU or P-EY = a long-term resident’s EU residence permit issued to a third-country national.
